Khuresh wrestling is a kind of ancient tuvinian fighting. There are many episodes in heroic epos when two warriors meet at the road and agree to compare their strength. They dance the "dance of the eagle". As time went by this fighting got more new complicated elements and became very popular among local people. The clothes of wrestlers also changed. At the beginning it included a short robe and wide pants. Nowadays it includes shorts with a belt and a short jacket with long sleeves which covers only the back of a wrestler. The rules of wrestling are very simple. A looser is a wrestler who touches the ground with any part of the body except foot. There are only two participants in this kind of wrestling. They put on wrestling costumes before fighting and after fighting they make a short performance of "the dance of eagle". Famous fighters wrestling gather full stadiums of spectators. Local people make fantastic legends about their favorite wrestlers.
The most important fighting is held during the national tuvinian holiday Naadym. Sometimes the number of participants exceeds 300 people. The winner is awarded by a car, other participants get different prizes. The most famous wrestler is Ayas Mongush, he won the fighting 17 times. Other famous fighters include Maadyr Mongush, Nachyn Mongush, Ay-Demir Mongush, Opanas Semis-ool, Andrey Hertek.
