How to get

Taymyr Peninsula is reachable for tourists only by air. In summer time there are regular passenger ships from Krasnoyarsk to Dudinka.

By air

You can fly to Norilsk (the airport NSK "Alykel") from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Baku.

Regular flights are operated by air companies "S7", "Aeroflot", "Nordstar".

From the airport you can take public buses to Norilsk. The distance from the airport to Norilsk city center is about 50 km, to Dudinka about 55 km.

From Norilsk you can fly to Khatanga or Dikson, there are regular flights, but their regularity is still heavily dependent on weather conditions.

By passenger ship

In summer time (from middle June to the end of September) you can go down the Yenissey river from Krasnoyarsk to Dudinka by passenger ships operated by the company "PassagierRechTrans". The ships "Alexander Matrossov" and "Valery Chkalov", both of the project № 588, built in 1955. The route is from Krasnoyarsk to Dudinka with short 30-min stops in Yenisseysk, Turukhansk, Igarka and some small villages.

Please note, ships are not touristic, they are normal regular passenger ships. We would recommend to stay in cabins of 1 class (1 or 2 sofas, wardrobe, wash-basin). Shower and toilet cabins are located on decks. There are two restaurants, reading and music room, bar, cinema. Throughout the voyage on the ship’s radio there is travel information in Russian.

The schedule of departures is every 3 days. The average price for a ticket from Krasnoyarsk to Dudinka costs 280-300 Euro. On the way 3 days 14 hours. Return voyage up the river takes 5 days 8 hours.

Further, from Dudinka to Norilsk you can take a regular public buses to Norilsk, the distance is about 70 km.

By road

There is only one road of federal significance: between Dudinka and Norilsk (70 km).

The length of the public roads with hard surface - 278 km. Roads with permament surface - 85 km, dirt roads - 175 km and temporary winter roads - 6 thousands km.

The traditional mode of transport in the Taнmyr is reindeer and dogs sledging, used by herders and hunters. Modern inhabitants of Taнmyr increasingly use helicopters to get around the peninsula.

There is no pessanger railroad in Taymyr! (only one track Norilsk-Dudinka used for "Norilsk nickel" plant).
