Tes river valley is a place where the tribe Soyan still live. Their sacred mountain Kezhege is situated on the right bank of this river. Shamans believe that this mountain is their main protector. The mountain is situated just several kilometers far from the border with Mongolia.
There are many interesting and mysterious legends about Kezhege. One of the legends says that girls from the Soyan tribe cannot marry another tribe's man.
Local people worship this place and try not to disturb the spirit of the mountain.
The name "Kezhege" means "a man's plait". It is a large mountain in the shape of a circle. There is a small stream in the centre of the circle. You can come inside the circle only through a narrow crevice. There are several stone altars, statuettes and other Buddhist objects inside the mountain.
