Tus (from the Turkoman. 'salt') - inland bitter and salty lake located in 30 kilometers to the north from the settlement of Shira and in 4 kilometers to the east from the village of Solenoozernoe.

Area of a water mirror is 2,65 km², length of the coastline is 8 kilometers, and maximum depth is 4,5 meters.

Tus is located among the hilly treeless steppe, a lake valley is dry and stony.

Tus is special of its high water mineralization (110-120 grams on liter, in a benthonic part - to 155 grams). And concentration of salt is so big, that it stopped to dissolve and began to drop out as a deposit on the bottom, forming a thick crust to 30 centimeters.

Because of salinity and water density, the lake is called the Siberian Dead Sea.
