Limonology Museum

In Listvyanka village at the lake shore a museum-aquarium is located. This is the only museum in Russia, the exhibition of which is devoted only to the Lake Baikal. The main goal of the museum is collect, save and popularize the information and objects which can characterize the unique nature formation – the Baikal Lake. Baikal museum provides scientific data about Baikal in visual and intelligible way. In the museum they have a model of the lake’s bottom covered with sand and pebble. Hundreds of species of fish live in aquarium, among them are pigfish, omul, vendace, grayling, mollusks and sponges.

There are 3 exhibitions in the museums and each of them can open new side of Baikal for you. Here with your own eyes you can see an underwater life of Baikal and know what is going on at the deepest spot of Baikal which is 1637 meters below sea level.

A unique “Ringed seal house” is located in Listvyanka where visitors can see Biakal ringed seal. Ringed seal is a very tickle mammal which rarely can be seen in wildlife. In ringed seal house visitors also can see a show.
