Among untouched taiga, on the banks of the mighty Yenisey river the village Verhneimbatsk is located. By local standards, it's quite a large settlement. According to the last census its population is more than 500 people. In the village there are a few shops, post office, hospital, club, library, secondary school and a kindergarten. There is an airfield where helicopters land. There is a meteorological station.
Verhneimbatsk has not only convenient geographical position, but also a rich history. Founded by the Cossacks more than 400 years ago, it experienced many epochs.
Prior to the arrival of Russian people the land was inhabited the Ket, Evenk and Nenets people. Kets lived in the valley of the river Yenisey, Evenk people - on the right bank of the mountain area, Nenets - on the left bank of the Yenisey River basin.
Then it was occupied by Cossacks, exploring Siberia. Then, during the Russian Empire, exiled political prisoners lived here. But after the revolution the extensive research work on growing frost-resistant agricultural plants was carried out.
Until the early 20th century, not more than 100 people lived in the village. The main work in the village was production of furs and caviar, which is still considered to be the world "black gold". Taiga and River continue to feed the locals today. Among them there are many experienced hunters and fishermen.
The symbol of the rich historical past is one of the main attractions in Verhneimbatsk - a huge stone with the inscription:
"Believe me, I'll tell you,
What evil sadness
Lying at the heart of a poet,
Like this heavy stone on the ground ... "
The author is unknown. And the age of the stone has not been set yet. It was found on the banks of the Yenisey, and during the improvemnets works in the village it was moved to the square and letters were coloured in gold.
Another distinctive feature of the village is security. Houses are surrounded by a small wooden fence, and the locals leaving home do not lock doors or gates. On the beach near the village there are boats, no one takes off motors at night, nearby there are different kinds of tools.
Close to Verhneimbatsk there are small settlements of the Old Believers - Chulkovo and Alinskoe.
Guests can take a dip in extremely friendly and confidential atmosphere of the village, to relax and get pleasure from their trip.
