A festival dedicated to the beginning of the winter tourist season called “Altai Wintering” will be held in the Altai Krai (Altaisky, Smolensky, Soloneshensky, Sovetsky districts) on December 12-13, 2014. 

On December 13 individual and team competitions in jig fishing attended by 18 teams from the Altai Krai will be held in the village of Altaiskoe at Sorochinsky pond within the frame of the Winter Olympics of rural athletes of Altai. The guests of the festival will be able to attend a workshop on jig fishing.

Jig is a fishing gear, a hook with a sinker which is used for ice fishing, and therefore it was chosen as the subject of study. It is important to note that the workshop will be held by the very high-skilled athletes – the world champion in fishing Sergei Bolyakhin and one of the coaches of the Russian national team, the bronze medalist of World Championship Sergei Kazantsev.
