18.07.2019, in Blagoveshchensk city the construction of a cableway between Russia and China has started.

A cableway with a length of 973 meters will pass over the Amur River and in 2022 will connect the cities of Blagoveshchensk and Heihe. You can get from Russia to China in 6 minutes.

“The cable car project is unique and ambitious. There are no states in the world that would be connected by a cable car across the river. The cable car that connects Blagoveshchensk on the Russian coast and Heihe in Chinese will become a new symbol of strengthening our border relations. This project will create a multiplier effect, the development of tourism infrastructure will begin.”said the Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov.

It is assumed that the cable car will consist of four lines and operate on a pendulum principle, like a funicular. The capacity of gondolas is 60 people. The capacity of the road is 457 people per hour or 6-7 thousand people per day. The interval between rides will not exceed 12-15 minutes. It is expected that the annual flow of passengersby 2024 will reach 1 million people.

The commissioning of the cableway is planned for the second half of 2022.
