In 2013- 2014 the Moscow authorities are planning to acquire 120 new trams, which can develop speed up to 75 km/h.       

The city is ready to invest about US $273 million into the project. Twenty four new trams are to be delivered next year and ninety six trams in 2014.      

Fast trams should meet some requirements. They should serve no less than 30 years; they should be equipped with air conditioner in the salon and have no less than four doors.    

Moscow authorities are considering possible routes for the fast trams. Trams may run from metro station Shose Entuziastov up to the town Balashikha. Another possible route is up to the town Severniy.
