Analytical agency TurStat has analysed eco-tourism in Russia. In Russia there are 3 types of protected nature areas: national park (anthropogenetic activity restricted, but visits of tourists allowed), nature reserve (anthropogenetic activity prohibited, visits of tourists allowed with a special permission) and zakaznik (not the whole territory is reserved, but only plants or animals, historical or geological objects). The country has 50 national parks, 103 state nature reserves and 61 zakazniks. 2017 declared as the Year of Ecology in Russia.
