Vladimir Putin is famous for his love of action-packed holidays, but this year he has been spotted enjoying a rather more laid-back break in the mountains of Siberia.

The remote Tyva region is said to be one of the 65-year-old leader's favourite places in the world.

Footage released by the Kremlin showed Putin hiking, examining plants with his defence minister Sergei Shoigu and sailing in a boat on the Yenisey River.
