High-speed trains ‘Sapsan’ to be launched from Novosibirsk to Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Barnaul, Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk by 2020.

As Anatoliy Reger, the deputy manager of West Siberian Railway, mentioned, the passenger traffic flow cannot be compared to that which is carried along Oktyabrskaya railway or in Moscow region, but high-speed trains should appear in near future here.

According to Reger, the speed of ‘Sapasan’ trains won’t exceed 200 km/h with the maximum speed of 400 km/h. but even with such limits travel time will be reduced by one third. Nowadays between Novosibirsk and Omsk there goes a high-speed train ‘Lastochka’. With the maximum speed 160 km/h the travel time is 6 h 40 min.
