The Director-General of UNESCO Ms Irina Bokova informed the Permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Ms Eleonora Mitrofanova about this in an official letter.

Ms Bokova noted that the Festival will bring together artists and culture professionals of the Asia-Pacific region to celebrate music, art and inter-cultural dialogue at the international level, which is consistent with UNESCO’s mission of promoting creativity, cultural diversity and living heritage.

Ms Bokova wrote, “Moreover, I am confident that it will help to raise awareness on the role of the cultural and creative industries in promoting peace, and support UNESCO’s efforts in this area. It is my pleasure, therefore, to grant UNESCO’s patronage to this event”.

Please note that the dates of the festival have been changed - it will be held from 23 to 27 June 2016, in Krasnoyarsk.

For the whole week the city on the Yenisei becomes a single stage area: artists from Siberia and the Russian Far East, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, United States, Nicaragua, Japan and other countries will present a disturbing mix of original music and choreography, theater and cinema, outdoor and visual arts.
