They were chosen by sms and telephone voting all around Russia on the 26^th of February.  Dmitry Chernyshenko the Organizing Committee President commented the decision about three mascots with an old Russian saying “God loves trio” (or “All good things come in threes”). Every of the talismans symbolizes the Olympic principles which are friendship, respect and aspiration for perfection.
