Federal Tourism Agency informed that the head of the department Alexander Radkov had a meeting with the Ambassador of Iceland to Russia Albert Jonsson and the Trade Representative of Iceland to Russia Ilona Vasilyeva.
During the meeting it was mentioned that the presence of straight flight connection between Iceland and Russia would help to increase the two-way tourist flow.
Federal Tourism Agency reports that in 2013 regular flight connection between Iceland and Russia will be opened for the first time – Icelandic airlines start flights on the route Reykjavik – St. Petersburg. The flight will be performed twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays seasonally from June 1 to September 17.
Iceland took the initiative to hold Iceland-Russian Conference “New ways of cooperation in the area of brending the Northern Territories in order to promote them as all-season destinations” in Reykjavik in this October. The Conference is to be held as part of International Tourism Exhibition VestnordenMART.
