The Altai wintering
December 15-18, 2016
The holiday Altai wintering is timed to the arrival of swans and opens the winter tourist season in the Altai Territory. Every year it gathers thousands of guests and participants. There will be more than 50 events planned by organizers: 30 sport events, 21 - entertainment and educational projects. Folk festivals, competitions and demonstration performances of such sportsmen as skiers, snowboarders, ice-climbers, swimmers in cold water. Winter fishing, dog sledding, souvenir fairs, amusing races, seminars and competitions - all this and much more in the program of the Altai wintering.
The "Heart" of the holiday Altai wintering is the Sovetsky district. Here, on the territory of the Lebediny reserve, there are ice-free lakes - wintering grounds for more than 600 whooper swans. Thousands of sightseers will visit the ice-free lake. Among snowdrifts and ice floes, snow-white swans move gracefully against the background of thick-covered frosted trees. In frosty sunny days, in the haze of soaring water, they look like a magical mirage. Anyone who has ever seen such a spectacle, will keep it for a long time in his heart. It was the inhabitants of the unique Swan lake in the Soviet district who inspired local people to create the holiday Altai wintering.
Annually the Altai wintering is a series of bright, memorable events of December in the Altai Territory.
